Hello there...

Hello there....it's me....finally...oh, how I've missed coming here and rambling on....

Funny thing is...I've started three different posts, always get side-tracked and never somehow find my way back.  I can't believe it's been like three months since I've posted....AND, that three months have NOT been dull at all  :)

Life is simply good...busy, but good....and over & over again there are so many blessings to count....
So, since it would take me a month to catch up on on life here at the Mallon Casa....I'll just give you my top 10 from the summer  :)

10.  Finally, my kitchen got a little up-date...goodby country blue..hello white & red  :)  (Hoping to post pictures soon!)

9.  Four weeks of teaching migrant preschoolers flew by...and once again my heart fell in love with every single little set of brown eyes!

8.  Farmer's markets, farmer's markets, farmer's markets  ....(and, can I say...only 4 more weeks to go :)  WHOoooohoooo...Shhhh...don't tell my Mr. I'm counting ...wink, wink!)

7.  My parents bought a house here...and are going to be living in the same town as us....so excited...and yet, so unreal....to think I can just hop in my car and drive across town vs. the three hours it use to take me to go see them....truly a Sweet blessing!

6.  Calving done!  All in 5 days.....and of course NOT without some stress-filled moments....but, I'm happy to report our Lucy Loo bottle baby has a Mama and our little Jr. that needed splints on his front legs is running, & playing strong  ( I have pictures of them I'm hoping to share soon too  :D)

5.  A weekend away to spend with Pat's family = a BIG happy face  :)

4.  A new year of preschool started...and I'm blessed with the sweetest 3 year olds....

3.  A new baby niece soon to arrive....How my nieces and nephews can be to the parenting stage in their lives is still a mystery to me  :)

2.  Moments and meals shared with friends...totally = really living life!

1.  God's Goodness to us every single day!  I Love how when you look backwards you can clearly see His hand everywhere....and I'm working on seeing that more & more in the minute too!
So now I really am saying Goodby Summer...Hello Fall....and Welcome to the next season in our stories that God is writing!  Wishing everyone a Fall filled with beautiful colors, warm moments, laughter, and hearts that sing for HIM!  Sweet blessings!

OoPs!!!

Okay, it finally happened....that big OOPS!

You see every year somehow or some way it seems my Mr. dings his truck!  He always justifies it by saying...he does travel over 60,000 miles a year with his job.  Sometimes, it's when he's traveling ...like once due to icy roads, sometimes, it happens doing "farm things" like turning the horse trailer too sharp and knocking out the back window...sometimes, it's farmer's market related and happens during all freezer loading and unloading.  His poor truck just always seems to have a dent somewhere.

Well, sadly enough, I added to that this weekend.  It was on Friday and I was pulling into the Pendleton market parking lot to check in...I was going to the very end of the lot to park next to another farmer I know, as I was pulling across I looked over to the check-in station and someone caught my eye...I had to look again to make sure it wasn't an old friend...and all of a sudden there was a loud crash...my helper girl Alyssa (who had been sleeping ) woke up, sat up straight and said..."What is happening" as we both look forward and see a light pole starring at us! Yep....I had ran into the concrete base of the light pole....HOW...???  Well, I guess it all had to do with being noisy and looking elsewhere...thinking I was past the pole and not realizing I was headed for it  :(   Ughhhhh....of course I immediately jumped out...as others came to make sure I was okay and help pick up a cooler of meat that had been jarred out and spilled.  We were both okay...but, I was afraid to look at the front of the truck.  Finally, I got up enough courage to do so....and it appeared okay, I could only see a dent in the bottom part of the fender...the grill and lights were all okay!

So, I headed to check in....drove down to the market street...hearing the tires rubbing some...got set up and called my Mr. to tell him.  It was all good...he totally was cool with it....(mmmm.....maybe because he has done made his own dents several times)  and, besides how fast could I have been going anyway???  He was worried it was because I was too tired....but the true confession is ...I was being tooooo noisy  :D   Of course, I had every male vendor I knew at the market looking at it and checking it out...and they all said it would be fine to drive, that the bumper had been jarred off track and was just rubbing on the tire a bit.  No worries I would make it home fine...and I did...and my Mr. was able to drive it to Pasco to the Saturday markets!

So, there that was my OoPs!!!  The first time in the 23 years of marriage that I've dented one of our vehicles....and so, praying the last time tooo!!!  God is good, and Alyssa and I are fine, the truck is driveable until the autobody shop can get it fixed...and we still were able to finish our market weekend!   I am however, just a LOT paranoid about keeping my eyes straight ahead on the the road only now  :D  Which in hindsight is totally a GOOD thing to be paranoid about  :D

So, even in the midst of  my Oops...Sweet blessings were everywhere!!!!   Wishing everyone out there safe driving this week....and a week free of Oops...but, overflowing with many Sweet blessings!

Welcome June...15th!

Welcome June....   :)

How can it already be June 15th!  Wow...time just seems to be going full-speed ahead!!!

June has been so filled so far.....
~Unpredictable weather...a little rain, some wind, a few thunderstorms, a sunshine break, and it all happening over & over again  :D

~ Farmer's Markets are ALL going full swing...what does that mean??  Well, it means from Thursday afternoon until Saturday afternoon you can find me displaying Pat~n~Tam's Beef somewhere  :D  Actually, my Mr. has been traveling a LOT with his full time job..so, it's just been me and a couple helpers going everywhere...Kennewick, Richland, Pendleton, Pasco, Hermiston....and, by Saturday afternoon...I'm simply ready to curl up and not move for the rest of the day  :D  Believe this or not...I don't even feel like talking or visiting..ha,ha....I guess that's one plus from the crazy schedule..there are actually moments where I just want to be quiet  :D

~ My planters have been filled with the beautiful colors of flowers...(trying their best to survive all the wind!)
~ My to-do list is growing smaller...
~ And, my List of Life events has been happening...Yay!  Which means Sunday afternoon barbecues with friends, family over for dinner, and catching up for afternoon visits with precious friends!

That's what I've LOVED most about June...the time to INVEST in those I cherish and love...those that really MAKE life!

Oh, and finally....I started exercising again!  Not exactly on the top of my list of things I want to do...but one of those things you find necessary when you're in your 40's ...ha, ha!!!  :)

So, all in all...so far June has been filled....with many great moments, and times that will forever make my heart smile!  So wishing each of you is finding June to be filled to overflowing with many Sweet blessings!!!

Catching Up...

Wow!  I wasn't sure if my blog would still be here....it's been forever since I've had a chance to post...life...it is going on  :D

May is always just one of those crazy, out-of-control, roller-coaster, go, go, go months for us!  It's the beginning of farmer's markets, the Mr.'s job is always full of travel, preschool is coming to an end, and the cows are always needing to get to their summer pastures.

I'm pleased to say we SURVIVED it all though....the cows are happily spending their time in knee deep waves of green....I gave my last hugs to my amazing classes of 3 year olds this year, 4 weekends of farmers markets down...leaving only 23 more to go, and today, my Mr. is home!

It's hard to believe that next week it will be June...And, I have soooo many things I already want to add to my to-do list  :D  But, I think I should change it a bit.....

Last week, my friend Lindsey (you know from Bales & Tales) posted about investing....it was a great post...if you haven't read it, you most definitely should check it out....anyway, as I read the post, the word she used...INVESTED struck me!    And, the more I think about it, the clearer it becomes to me....that this Summer should NOT be about my to-do list...but, instead about Investing!!!

~ Investing in some time spent catching up with friends I dearly treasure, but rarely get time to just sit and chat with...

~ Investing in helping someone just because
~ Investing in spending more time with our families
~ Investing in making a new friendship
~ Investing in my marriage....More kind words, less assumptions, more listening, less talking, more happy faces, less grumpy ones....
~ Investing more at my Church....
~ Investing more in our home....& sharing it with others... a simple meal & conversation = priceless

Investing...Yep, that's going to be my new motto and word for this Summer!  I'm pretty excited to tear up that to-do list and replace it with my list of investments  :D  Oh, and today, I'm already investing..
..in Me...it's a rare day of "just being", cuddling up with my Mr. & Missy Cat, a little napping, a movie or two, and a thankful heart for ALL the Sweet blessings every single day!    From my little spot to yours...Sweet blessings!

Tuesdays are NOT my day!

Wow~! It's been a bit since I had a chance to post...because...it truly appears Tuesdays are NOT my day!  Last time I posted our shop had just been broken into...and the following Tuesday our house was broken into.  The Mr. was home due to his truck being in the shop...so he had his yucky, dirty farm truck home as his mode of transportation....not something one would want to make a beef delivery in...So, when I got home we took my car to do some delivering...we left at 3:15...got home at 5:00....and found our front door wide open..
"Oh please tell me you didn't leave our front door open" I said as we pulled into the driveway..
"I don't think I did"
He headed to the door ....and as he got there all I heard was...
"I didn't leave it open...someone broke into it"....

My heart sank...there was an immediate feeling of anxiousness....one I cannot even explain as we entered our home eyes wide open....drawers were open, closets torn apart, the back sliding glass doors in our bedroom wide open, the freezer on the patio wide open.....UGHHHHH!!!!  As my husband went outside to look further, I dialed 911...a first...and not something I hope I have to do again EVER!

The things they took....ALL our computers, printer, accessories, my camera (that was holding all the family pictures I had just taken that weekend  :(  ), my penny jar, a suitcase, and a security lock box that was brand new and empty???  The worst part was that they had touched our home....things that were ours....Thankfully,  Pat and my sister's boyfriend were able to fix our door so it could be closed and locked that night...and thankfully, the sheriff did arrive quickly, thankfully we are blessed by many friends and were surrounded by many prayers.  And, thankfully, God's protection upon us is Great...the good parts...we were NOT home when it happened....it was only things they took...not our lives....our house kitty was outside and not scared or hurt....and our 1990 version TV was too big and heavy for them to take  :D  And, I was soooo, sooooo thankful my MR. was HOME that day!

It's been a learning process for both of us....we now ALWAYS Lock our doors...(besides the fact, that the didn't find our guns, and my husband now makes me take them with me everywhere!) It has made us alert to how much traffic goes by our house every single day.....how we must do more to protect our home & property....and the sad part is, it has made us suspicious of human kind.  That's the part that makes me sad...that we have to always be wary of others  :(    We both grew up in small towns, where everyone knew everyone, there was no need to lock your doors...no need to live in fear of crime....trust was alive, goodness of character and honor....

Even though it's not an experience I'd ever wish for....it did lead us to make some changes that in hindsight...are good changes for us.....We now have a security system for our home and shop...we will be putting in a fence and gates to secure our property, and...finally, we will be getting a dog...(or as my Mr. has decided 3 dogs  :D)   Funny thing is...I've been wanting a dog for the last couple years...and now, it's going to happen.  I know 3 dogs...REALLY???  Here's my Mr.'s logic....one is definitely going to be a cow-dog  (so hoping that means NO more cow herding for me :D),  if you have one, you might as well have 2  (because border collies alone are like teenagers...if they are bored they find trouble :D) and, finally a pretty dog (okay, that's going to be my dog...because you know I want something that has good hair days... :D)  We are open to any suggestions...so feel free to share your dog info with us....Oh, I got side-tracked...back to the reason for three...well, when one is gone working then the other will have a buddy at home and not be bored & naughty!

So, that's my story about Tuesdays....thankfully, the last two have been stress free....and I'm so hoping and praying that Tuesday can blend into all the other days of the week!   Thanks to each of you for your prayers for us during this time....GOD is GOOD...all the time!   Wishing each of you a GREAT last few days of April....Sweet blessings!

A day like that...

Ever had a day LIKE THAT???

You know the one...that starts out rough, and ends rough...

Well, yesterday...Tuesday, April 5th...was my day LIKE THAT!

It all started when the alarm went off at 3 am...Yep...3 AM!  Why?  Well, my Mr. was headed to the Butcher's in Sandy with a load of cattle...He had sorted them on Monday, brought them home, was kind enough to haul 5 head of cattle for another local grower...who brought them to our house and added them to our little pen area.  And, when we went to Bed Monday night everyone was settled in chewing their cud....

And, since I know it's not exactly easy backing up your horse trailer to the gate in the dark, and because my three late blooming Mama's were loose in the pasture...I thought the least I could do was put on my clothes and go do gate duty, backing-up motions, and help my Mr. get the cattle loaded!

As he gets his truck started and turned around I head to the gate, scanning my eyes over to the pen...at this point I must say EMPTY PEN!  NO Cows in it at all....the gates all appear to be closed...but, through the darkness my eyes can see shadows black bodies in the pasture..and all my Mama's laying in another spot.  YEP...the cattle was all out in the pasture with my Mama's...UGHHHHHHHH!  Now, I should point out that this is NOT the first time we have tried to wrangle up our cows in the dark....maybe I should be thankful for experience in that area  :D   I head back to the gate as Pat is about to pull through, waving him to stop..."THE COWS ARE OUT"....
"WHAT"??
"THE COWS AREN"T IN THE PEN"
Next came a few unhappy words, a truck turned off, and both of us headed to see how they could of escaped.....Well, it appears that they pushed through the panel by the water trough, just enough for them all...fat & sassy as they were to head out to freedom.  So, we had to spend a few minutes remodeling the pen...opening a huge gateway and some nice alfalfa to entice them back to the pen....surprisingly....we mostly just had to stand back and walk them forward....the good news...the bad...the Mama cows waddled over & followed too!

So, NOW...we had to try to sort out the Mama's..(the good news is there is a huge pole light right over the pen area/squeeze chute/workin' area!)  But, somehow cows just don't like being moved around in the dark....and they really like staying in a bunch....and one of my Mama's ...well, she's just plain high-headed and in tight spots always looks to escape.  So with some pushing a moving, came another panel getting knocked over...& two escaping...(guess who was on fence watching duty...OOPS....I could see it coming, but somehow didn't want to stand as a gate as the panel came toppling over.    So, it's back to chasing the two cows back in...& a panel that would never BE ABLE to be MOVED by anything!

My Mr. thankfully, is good at sorting and getting the cattle where they need to be...so it worked out that we were finally able to sort the Mama's into the crowd alley...get the other's loaded...and be done by 5 am...just when my alarm usually goes off  :)

That was Part 1 of my Tuesday....

I had a pretty good day at work...My Mr. made it to his destination safe & sound....the day had seemed to get better as it went on...UNTIL...

I pulled into our driveway and noticed our shop door open wide...You know I'm very OCD...and I knew I had locked it before I left that morning....(because I had let one of my sweet kitties inside out of the wind...okay, maybe that was three kitties  :D).   Something, just didn't feel right to me...and usually I'm greeted by a couple kitties and none were in sight....I ran in the house to change into my farming clothes...and my Mr. called to check in....I told him I was headed out to see what was going on with the shop door being open....I headed straight there and cautiously my kitties appeared...one step inside the shop and I knew I hadn't left the door open.  SOMEONE had been in there...and someone had taken my Mr.'s Mitre Saw and Chain Saw..and that appeared to be it...after finishing my chores, I tried to call my Mr. to make sure he just hadn't loaned them out and I didn't know it....no answer or course  :)  So, I got the key to the freezer room part of our shop...and as I walked toward those doors, I noticed the screen was off the window, and a big brick was moved under it....YEP...someone had definitely broken in....I searched some more, and it still seems that they only took the two things, plus my cordless drill.???? SO thankful, because there is SO MUCH in there they could of taken..even beef???

I called the sheriff's office and someone came out...and took photos and said there has been a lot of break-ins happening...that they may come back.  UGHHHHH!!!

SO that was part 2 of  my Tuesday... A day like THAT!  The one that thankfully doesn't happen very often...the one that was very LONG, and the one I was happy to say Good night too!  !

God is so good though...he has surrounded me with great neighbors, it all happened when I wasn't home..and it wasn't my HOME they entered, and much prayer and warm thoughts were sent my way through facebook...and on a night when I should of been wary, scared, anxious to be home alone...I was able to sleep.  The most amazing part...as I was praying for HIS Peace and Protection to surround me last night...I woke up a couple times with the words from a song playing in my head...a Christian song about
God's protection & love...TOTALLY A GOD THING!!!

So happy to see Wednesday come...and it was a GOOD Day!   Hoping everyone is having a GOOD day too...Sweet blessings!

Just playing...

Just playing with my blog today...SORRY if you missed the photo I was talking about in my last post...it's a welcome sign with an angel that says WELCOME family & Friends!

I just can't seem to figure out how to get my blog to be just like I want it..so I'm playing...I know, I know...there are a million other things I should be doing  :D  (Shhhhh...don't tell on me !)

It's been a good weekend.....

Yesterday I had to make beef deliveries to the Tri-Cities...and it was CRAZY Windy...I couldn't even go the speed limit  :)  But Praise God He took me there and back safe & sound.  Then, I spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch taking in the last two college basketball games before the Final one Monday night.  Oh, how I'm going to miss those games!!  But, on the flip side, it will probably mean I will get a LOT more accomplished!!!

Today is my favorite day of the week....Sunday!  I had a great time with my Sunday School class of 2...we are desperately trying to finish memorizing the books of the Old Testament...so we can earn a trip to the movies!  Then, a great message on being Thirsty from our Pastor.  Next, I had a preschool board meeting...home to do my lesson planning, laundry, pack my Mr.'s suitcase, some computer work...a little time to play on my blog...and dinner in the over!!!!

Oh, I just love days when you can take time to enjoy the moments...when time is not rushed and everything seems simple!!!

So that was my weekend...how has yours been????  Sending you wishes for a week filled with the Sweet Blessings of Spring!!!!

The sign

The sign above in my banner...it's real...and it's really at my home....

It's right by my front door....
And, it greets all who come to our home....

And...lately...it's been welcoming a LOT...and you know what....I Love it!

I Love that our home has been filled with family....
That extra leaves have been added to the table...that there has been an abundance of food placed upon it...that it has been encircled by faces I Love...the sound of plates being filled....laughter being shared...and most of all LIFE HAPPENING!

When I think about a home...and I think about all that God gives us....Over & over again I keep feeling that  is His plan for me & us is that we take time to share our home and what we have with others....whether it be our own extended families, great friends, a neighbor....or even a new acquaintance....I believe our HOMES & TABLES are meant to be SHARED!  Unfortunately...I'm not that good at making my beliefs ring true...I'm not as good at inviting others over as I should be...why???  Maybe it's because often our life seems to be spinning out of control...maybe it's because my Mr. isn't home much...maybe it's because I'm a clutter queen and always feel like my home is too messy...maybe, maybe, maybe.....But, I so want our home and table to give & receive more....which really = simply inviting others to share a meal with us!
And...this last weekend, as I sat around our table, watching, listening, looking, & feeling....I just knew it was Right....it just made me happy!    So what's happening at your table???  Is it being filled with Love & laughter???  Are others feeling blessed by your abundance???  Are hands being held in a circle of prayer???

I always wonder when I go into antique stores and see a table...what happened around it...what did the families talk about, how did they make their living, what meals were served, and stories told???  Does that table have a legacy???

Hmmmm....imagine that...a table leaving a legacy???  I hope one day mine does just that....and I'm hoping for more and more moments of my table being encircled in Love.   Sweet Blessings!

P.S. And, if you're ever in my neighborhood feel free to stop in and pull up a chair at our table  :D

Waiting....

Waiting & watching...
                     Watching & waiting....

It's been a LONG time since I've been doing just that "watching & waiting"....
Wonder what I'm watching & waiting for....
Well we had 3 late bloomers this year  (3 of our Mama's that aren't on our FALL calving schedule)...For the past few years we have calved in the late Summer/Early Fall...when all our cows are on their summer pasture.  So, the most I usually get to see is the calf on the ground after it's born...oh, I can monitor it all...check on them every day and know it will happen soon....BUT, somehow when they are...
                      RIGHT OUTSIDE MY KITCHEN WINDOW...
and I see them up close and personal twice a day as I feed them...it seems like it takes them FOREVER to have their babies!  They are all huge, and when they walk, they just simply waddle...when they lay down, they stretch all the way out on their sides and look like they've ingested the hugest beach ball I've ever seen...Oh, I know the signs...and one of the Mama's #709....her milk is definitely coming in.....and still...it's apparently just not time!
The weather has been so nice the last couple days..I keep begging her to just have her baby...but, now as the wind is coming up and the weatherman says rain for the next few days...now, I think she's going to have that baby anytime!!!   Yet another mystery I've yet to understand...why they always seem to have their babies on the worst, coldest, wettest weather days????

So, there you have it....I'm playing the waiting game...and I'm not doing it very patiently...and just like before when all the cows use to calve at home...I know she'll do it when she's good & ready and when I'm NOT looking!!!  :)

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend....with lots of watching & no waiting  :)  Most of all, that His patience surrounds you...and your eyes are lenses into this amazing world He has made!  Sweet blessings!

Cheering....

Rah, Rah, Rah....Go, fight, win...

Give me a P....A....T...what does that spell....

Cheering....when I was in grade school  I always wanted to be a cheerleader...I know , REALLY???  But, somehow I thought it would be fun to wear the cute little skirts, have pom-poms to swish and yell out cheers to those hard-working players!  But, I was way toooo shy in high school to ever actually even try out...I know, I know...me shy...well, it's true I was SO shy & quiet  (& really a wall-flower  :D) until I hit college!!!

Being a cheerleader really is all about being encouraging, uplifting, an untiring support system, a team player...all while getting to say really fun made up words and chants!  Well, lately, I've been thinking a LOT about being a cheerleader again....not in the same sense as when I was 12....but, still thinking of how I can still be a cheerleader everyday if I want!

HOW???

Well, first and foremost....I'm feeling over & over again God calling me to be my husband's cheerleader...to be the one that says....WAY TO GO....GREAT JOB...GO PAT.....Not just with my words, but with my actions, the tone of my voice, the way I respond to him.  Somehow, I think I'm much better at cheering others on than him.  And, when I think about it...who really needs that more from me...the world Or my husband????  He works so hard for us...is such a great provider, and yet, somehow it seems he usually doesn't get the best from me???  I don't know why that is....maybe it's because he gets the REAL me..(the one that does have grumpy moments, the one that sometimes has a way of saying "that's not going to work" to his ideas...the one that likes to be in control of things at home....).  BUT...

What IF...the REAL me he gets is the one that encourages, uplifts, supports, nurtures, dreams with him???
What IF....I become the one that is his biggest Fan???
The P..A...T... Cheerleader...???

Well, I'm on a mission right now to give that a try....
Starting March 1st, I decided that every. single. day this month I would make a point of telling him things I Love, admire, adore, and am so proud of him for.....just 5 little sentences....5 little chances each day to cheer his heart on....because my Mr. is gone most of the week...I just send him an email with my list of 5 admiration's.....nothing else said, or mentioned later...just the email sent . (period).

I'm hoping the list and the words will bring extra love and joy to his heart and day....and the clincher is...as I take time each day to write down words from my heart...my heart is being refreshed, renewed, and filled to overflowing with LOVE & joy too...I'm actually seeing the man I Love through different eyes....and, being reminded over & over again why I fell in Love with him 26 years ago on that Eastern Oregon State College campus  :)

We are on day 7 in March and # 35 on my list  :)

So, what about you??? Who are you being a cheerleader for....who is God placing upon your heart to stand up and cheer on???  Being a Cheerleader REALLY is ...F...U....N!!!     So give me a S..W..E..E..T... B...L...E...S...S...I...N...G...S!!!

Country Livin'

Country Livin'....that's what I'm living....in the Country..surrounded by all that it offers...

*Neighbors that look out for one another...
*Earth filled with rows & rows of crops...a farmer's way of life...their income
*The sounds of dogs barking, roosters crowing, cows mooing...an occassional whinny...
*Mornings that start with seeing the sunrise and chores waiting to be done...
*Evenings filled with warm sunsets as once again chores are done and another day sets...
*Air filled with the sweet smells of country livin'  (okay, sometimes the aromas aren't that sweet  :D)

Country Livin' also can offer an adventure or two from time to time....and that's what today brought...

I was just getting out of the shower (I had spent the morning just relaxing and taking it easy..because it's my day off and it's nice once in awhile to NOT have to be in a hurry  !!!)  When I hear a LOUD knock at the door..."Who could it be"....I quickly hurried to get dressed and went to the kitchen to look out the window and see if there was still a vehicle there....No car....but as I looked out I saw the neighbor's horse standing straight across the road munching on the green-ness popping up!  I open the front door to see if the neighbors are in sight and were the one's knocking...needing help...no ONE in sight...but, I do see a car I don't recognize turning down their driveway...my assumption that it was the nice person trying to find who the lone horse belonged too.....I grab my farming coat, my hair still wet and tucked in the towel, head out to grab the halter that hangs on the fence next to our horse pens and head toward the road to see if I can catch Kilo...who happens to have lived in the neighboring pasture the whole 18  years we've lived in our house!!  (I don't really think of myself as a horse whisperer...or even a horse-girl...but, I do know how to put a halter on one if I need too  :D!)
I get close to him, trying to make sure he stays off the busy country road that goes by our house....of course he is lovin' the green bites and just keeps walking ahead of me....I back off...as a car is approaching...the same car I had seen head down then neighbors driveway.  By now, Kilo is starting to think of crossing the road....the car heads him off and he crosses to the ditch road that runs behind our place....the neighbors behind us have many horses...the sweet lady stops and asks if it is my horse..and I tell her "Nope" it's my neighbors...she was worried and had been the one that had stopped and knocked...I asked if she had a cell phone so I could try to call my neighbors while Kilo was safe from the road, he still wasn't in a place to stay.  She handed me her phone, no answer...then, I called the neighbor (who happens to be my hay man too  :D)  No answer as he was on his 4-wheeler feeding his own horses...then, the lady offered to give me a ride over to his place....what a sweet, sweet, caring lady!  Once there, the neighbor's Mrs. came out to help...we thanked the "angel in disguise" introduced ourselves, and went our seperate ways.....Thankfully, the Mrs. had some grain and we were able to entice Kilo to us....I haltered him and we were off ...heading back to his own pasture...  Of course, that meant walking along the road (did I mention cars drive WAY TO FAST on it...) and, I wasn't sure how well Kilo would lead for me...so, you know I was praying for NO traffic until I got him home...and you know what...God is so good..there wasn't one single car that came along the whole 10 minutes it took me to get him home!!!!   And...just as I closed the pasture gate...help showed up!!!  It was ALL good...

And, it simply does feel GOOD to be able to help my neighbors...because one tooooo many times they've been there to help me!  So, country livin'...IT is a GREAT thing!  And, it's also so heart-warming to know there are still people out there willing to help a stranger (or strange animal that is  :D)!!!

Another Friday filled with fun...and ending with many Sweet blessings!  Wishing everyone a weekend that is filled with HIS GOODNESS and a chance to see the Good in this World we live in!  Sweet blessings!

Paper towels.....this is pretty much always the staple things I find on my shopping list  :D

Honey-do List  (I hate to admit it...but, YES it's true sometimes I give my Mr. a honey-do list :D )

- Get kitty food at the farm store
- pick up some straw (in case my Mama's calve while he's away)

See his list isn't even long or too bad...ha,ha

My To-do List

* Balance the checkbook
* Pay the bills
* Clean the house
* Return phone messages
* Grocery shop

Lists....we even make them at Christmas for those who are naughty and nice  :D

Lately, I've been inspired to start a new list....This one is more than a list though...I know it's going to become the Sweetest blessing ever to my heart and my life....It's the list....everyone should have...

My List of One Thousand Gifts
1. Starting the day with Jesus in my heart!
2.  Waking up next to my husband.
3.  The early morning warmth of our home as the sound of rain falls on our metal roof.
4. Sisters in Christ - who inspire me and encourage me to take this journey of gratitude  :)
5.  Wonderful sweet, 3 year olds that simply Love Jesus and the sound of their uncontrollable, freeing laughter.

It's just the beginning this new list of mine....and it's all inspired by a book called "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Vonskamp!  And, a challenge by sweet friends to do just that....journal things I am thankful for every single day in the goal to reach 1000 gifts!!!

I'm on gift # 73 & counting.....
And, the more I look, the more I see...all the amazing gifts God gives me every. single. day to be Thankful for.....

"You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever."
Psalm 118: 28-29

So...there it is...my new list....
And, it's one I can hardly wait to fill out each day

So....what about you...want to join me in counting to 1000???  All you have to do is grab you paper and pen and you are ready for the most exciting journey into gratitude ever!   Hope you do it...and along the way find many, many Sweet blessings!

It's raining...it's pouring...

It's true it's raining, it's pouring...it's simply NOT stopping in my little corner of the world.

And, all the rain...well, it just makes for one adventure after another  :D

To begin with this morning my little hand-pulled hay cart got STUCK in the Mud & Muck..,.and while trying to pull it out...I nearly got stuck, fell, and almost lost a muck boot..

Yesterday the hay man came and brought us some hay for our 3 Mama cows at home...well, it was terribly windy, and so I thought I'd just wait to cover it up until today.....somehow with all the feeding hoopla this morning I forgot..and wouldn't you know it...the rain started again before I got home from work....

Then, one of our horses had cut it's leg when the cold freeze hit, and we've been doctoring it...yesterday however, this nasty thing called "proud fresh" started protruding out  :(  So, tonight, we had to rewrap her wound &, give her a nice dose of penicillin  Thankfully, my Mr. was home  :)  But, in case I haven't mentioned it before...I'm really NOT a horse girl...oh, I can feed them, halter them, vaccinate them if I have too....but, it's definitely NOT my thing...and truth be told...I'm a little scared of them.  (all except one...our Trixie, who is probably almosts 25 years old!  She's just an easy keeper, takes shots well, is easy to catch,  leads wherever you take her...you know...she's like a big pet!!!)   Oh, I think I got off my story.....  :)

Anyway, so my Mr. catches Nicker's leads through the squishing, squashing mud...out to the yard.  He starts spraying off her wound with the hose....I volunteer to finish washing it with an antiseptic, place some medicine on a gauze patch, and vet wrap her back up....here's where the story gets me..... (and, literally it is ME!)

"Okay, I'm done...but, I'm not giving her the shot of penicillin...that's your job" I say
"Can you hold her" is his reply.
"I think so"...
She's 13, and surely by now she takes shots well (She spent the last 6 years at the Mr.'s Cousins)

I'm doing my usual rubbing her jar, sweet talking to her, when she lifts her head and points her ears (which is my clue that she knows something is happening behind her...) then, in a split second she steps forward...ONTO MY FOOT

"Hold her still"
"I can't...she's on my foot"

Thankfully, my Mr. left his spot and came and moved her foward...(not quite without the usual..."You have to pay attention when you are holding her....watch what you're doing...don't let her be the boss....you have to stop being afraid of them...."  Mmmm...there might have been a few other words of advice/caution)....but, the next thing I know, is I'm holding her again, while he finishes the shot.

OOHHHHHH IT DID HURT...but, Praise God I can still walk on it...and nothing seems to be broken...so, after a little ice...I'm thinking it will be just a little sore tomorrow...and, hopefully I'll be able to get that MUCH NEEDED Muck boot on  :D

So, there you have it...the fun we are enjoying here....most of all, wishing each of you a dry spot...and, a very Happy Tuesday!    Sweet blessings!

My weekend......

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone is finding great ways to spend the day....somehow, it's been awhile since I posted again...so,  this might be filled with a little this & that  :D

I'm so blessed that my job schedule is Monday-Thursday...but, this week I worked on Friday for my co-worker...and it was so fun...because I got to spend the day with all my babies from last year.  It always amazes me at how much they GROW in a year....now, they can do EVERYTHING by themselves :D  I Loved watching them build & create with wood pieces, sit so quiet in circle, and listen so intently to the teacher.....I just LOVE that I get to work with little ones, helping them grow and learn about Jesus!

Then, I got home to find my husband pulling in behind me...my MR.home on a Friday night...whooohoooo...that's a rare thing at our house due to his real-world job!  And, to make it even better he took me out to dinner....Mexican food...yum, and then a little cuddle up movie time on the sofa!  Life is simply JUST RIGHT when my Mr. is home (even the cat is happier  :D)

Saturday we split to make meat deliveries....he went to the Tri-Cities and I to Pendleton...sometimes, I like to shop there...it just seems quieter and more quaint!  (Oh, yeah...I am talking about Walmart...shhhhh...my Mr. DOES NOT like me shopping there...but sometimes the one-stop/shop is just easier!)  Then, I watched a little NCAA basketball while I cleaned my house  (YAY!  It's college basketball time !!!)  Next, I headed to a wedding...then, the reception...and finally home by 6:00  (And, another blessing...I didn't have to due any chores in the pouring rain!)   Speaking of rain...lately I'd just like to sing "Rain, Rain go away" all day long!  The muck is deep....very deep.....and it's hard not to get stuck or fall down as I"m walking through it.

Sunday  (my favorite day of the week!) ...a great class with my Sunday School kids...they are so fun, easy, and eager to learn about God...a wonderful worship service, a meeting, a trip to Safeway & Rite-aid..then, home!  NO NAP though  :(   I did however, make homemade baked potato soup and a gingerbread cake to take to our core group meeting ..which was a wonderful time of just visiting, eating, & fellowshipping...and the day ended all three of us (that would be the Mr. me & our Missy kitty ) all snuggled up on the sofa!

It was a GREAT weekend...and the kind we don't get to enjoy nearly often enough...BUT, I'm to put that on my prayer list  :D   So, I hope each of you found wonderful ways to spend your weekend too...and that through it all....you were blessed with many Sweet blessings!

It's Cold...

It is COLD Outside....and so cold that all the muck is frozen...S.O.L.I.D!!! Even the standing puddles of water...are frozen mini ice-skating ponds :)

But, even though it's cold outside...my heart is sooooo warm inside!

It's just those simple. little. every. day. things..that make my heart so warm...

* Cooking meals and sharing them with my Mr.
* Washing the dishes and knowing he is in the next room :)
* Adding another log to the fire....wait this is starting to sound like a country song :) oh, well...what can I say....simple things make me happy!

* Welcoming in a New Year with friends that are more than friends...but, truly like family....
* The sounds of laughter coming from the other room where the "men" are playing the "Farming game"......sometimes little boys never really grow up!
* Kids' using their imaginations...building forts, dressing up, putting on plays....totally enjoying being together.
