Last week, Tuesday to be exact, I took a trip to Safeway...not because I wanted too...because I soooo don't like grocery shopping. But, my in-laws were coming for dinner, and as life always goes, there's always one ingredient you need that somehow has disappeared from your cupboard. Now, in Hermiston we only have two choices for grocery shopping...Safeway being one and Walmart the other...the dilema being go to Safeway and pay more for each item or Walmart and have to wait in line for a minimum of 20 minutes?!?! So, I chose Safeway! (Okay, and there's one other reason for my choice....they have Starbucks...and I was so in need of a Venti Iced Tea!!!) I headed in, list in hand so I could whip through the store, not being side-tracked by the nonessentials and begin my shopping.....well, my simple list of three items and in and out theory vanished. It was a good thing though...I seemed to run into friends on every aisle that I hadn't seen for awhile...it was nice chatting, hearing how life was going for them, and catching up....something I had dreaded (shopping) had turned into a pleasant surprise filled with sweet blessings! I finished my shopping, got my BIG Iced Tea, and left Safeway feeling refreshed with a happy smile, and joy in my spirit! So, maybe next time I need to do some shopping I'll go without the grumbling....because who knows, I just might run into a friend, talk a bit, and leave knowing that my day was made special because I had connected with someone who blesses my life! So, happy grocery shopping to each of you! And, if you're feeling a little out of sink, just try hanging out at Safeway for awhile...you're almost guaranteed to run into someone you know!!! Sweet blessings!
P.S. Dinner was good....even though it was a simple fair of hamburgers, salads, and homemade oatmeal raisin cookies for dessert!!!
May You find Life's Sweet Blessings ALL around you every day!

The essence of Summer...
Today, it feels like Summer is really, I mean REALLY here! I woke up to the sun shining, birds singing and NO wind in sight (although, it seems to have appeared this afternoon :( ..) As, I was watching the kids at recess time today on the playground...I couldn't help but smile! Of course, they are cute, running, playing chase, swinging, creating their own imaginary games...but, that's not what made me smile. It was that feeling...that excitement, expectation, and wonder that comes with the essence of Summer. Remember when you were 7 (or 8, 9, 10.....16) and, the best part of life seemed to be Summer....No more waking up early to go to school, doing homework, going to bed early because daylight ended at 5:00...no more coats, and shoes...there was just that feeling of FREEDOM! (How does that feeling get lost when we become grown-ups???) Maybe it's our jobs, schedules to keep, and life...but, oh, how the beginning of Summer makes me want to go back to those carefree moments! Here's just a few I wish to capture again....
* Sleeping in until I feel like getting up
* Staying up late, because it's summer and that's what you do
* Laying under a big shade tree watching the clouds float endlessly by
* Picking Dandelions to give to my favorite person :D
* Eating Ice Cream everyday...and Popsicles too!
* Splashing in the water...getting hit by the sprinkler...swimming until I become a prune
* Turning cartwheels across the lawn, or rolling down a big hill :D
* Drinking Lemonade (okay, and you know me...Ice Tea :D)
* Getting in the car, windows rolled down, hair blowing everywhere.. and going exploring !
* Sitting on the porch in the evening, watching the sun set, listening to the crickets make their music
* Barbecues with friends and family
* Backyard games of horse shoes, baseball, or hide & seek
* Soaking in all the smells of Summer....feeling the warmth of the sun upon my face....hearing life happening....those are all thoughts that came to me today....
Summer...what a great time! I hope you make yours a great one too....that you sit in the grass and eat a popsicle before it melts, that you do something adventurous, and that you find rejuvenation this Summer! Sweet blessings!

The Washing Machine....
Okay, here's the next story....and guess what, it doesn't have to do with a cow, horse, farmer's market, preschooler or cat...this one is purely about my washing machine adventure....okay...really it was a nightmare!
I was blessed to have Pat around town this week and home...I just love having his presence in our home! I Love that he can unwind and enjoy our home...and that we get to spend a little extra time together!!!
Well, for some reason, when he's home, it always seems like there is more laundry to do??? I'm sure there's not, I'm just use to seeing it come out of his suitcase all at once, instead of here and there about the house! Well, being the good wife that I am, on Monday after we get home from moving the horses around, I decide I should throw a load of his "cow clothes" in...especially, since one pair of jeans had to stay out on the porch until it was washing time :D Pat always goes on & on about me checking his pockets...and I assure him, I will and that he should do it too as he takes them off....Well, I get the load in....it washes, and I take it out to put it in the dryer...noticing, there is something silver in the bottom of the washer...any guesses?!?!? I knew instantly what it was! And, a sudden, panic, fear, anxiety, "OH NOOOO" feeling engulfed me! In case you haven't guessed...it was his life...his cell phone...inside it is every work contact he needs, his daily calendar, his connection to his laptop, and soooo, soooo, much more. It is only about 20 steps from the laundry room to the living room...but, it felt much like a 20 mile walk, as I headed out to tell him....(I know you want all the juicy details about that conversation :D) But, I have to say it went relatively well...just the "Why don't you check my pockets" lecture...and a deal was made...I would check as I put them in the washer if he would check as he took them off his body! (Keep your fingers crossed that we both hold up our ends of the deal :D) So far so good, I just left my computer in the middle of this posting to take some clothes out of the washer to the dryer...and Praise God, NO silver objects!!!
Back to the story...so, Pat left his phone alone the rest of the day and the next day he went to the Tri-Cities to the Verizon store...Praise God he had insurance on the phone (I think with his luck that is a must :D) so, the next day they shipped him out a new phone...bad news is he hasn't been able to retrieve a lot of the data from his old phone...however, being the witty man he is...he emailed his dealers and told them about his phone adventure...and most of them called him the next day so he could just re-add their numbers to his new phone...I thought that was really great of them....& they all thought it was apparently funny & when they called him they would say something like... "so, I heard you have a clean phone now..."! I know it will all be funny about ten years from now to us too :D The worst part is he is still having a hard time making his phone compatible with his laptop....I'm hoping he can get that all straightened out this week.....(you know I'm really praying like crazy about it :D) So, there....that's the washing machine story....and our adventure for the week :D My sweet husband....somehow, I think he has an invisible sign on him that reads....I have the worst luck..test it out!!! And, why oh, why does it always have to be me that truly tests it :D God is good though, and even in the midst of the chaos, our silver lining was we got to spend a little more time together this week (due to the washing machine or not....we were together!) Sweet blessings!

Summer Vacation is here....
Hello long lost friends....at least it feels like I haven't visited with my precious friends forever! Preschool is finally finished...we had a great last week...it's always hard saying good-by to my three year olds that have now all turned four and have become real little individuals! I did well this year, though, I held back the tears and made it through the last prayer....Miss Susy and I were truly blessed with the sweetest end of the year gifts and thank yous! One of our favorites, of course, being all those Starbucks gift cards.....yeahhhh....we are set for a great summer of those Ice Teas!!! Preschool ended on Thursday, May 29th, on Friday, my parents came for the weekend. My brother's step-daughter was graduating...so, we spent most of the weekend in Ione...then, on Monday, I started my Summer School job! So, there Summer Vacation is here, and mine is gone :D But, I truly do love my summer job...the kids are a little older...and I only work until 1:00 every day...not so bad!
This week was our first Farmer's Market in Hermiston....it went pretty well considering the wind was howling :D Somehow, Hermiston hasn't realized that it's summer time....we've still had temperatures in the 60's with rain and wind. (In fact, today at the Pasco Farmer's Market I was dressed in a turtleneck sweater, down vest, my heavy winter coat and gloves...and I'm glad I did dress so warm :D) Pat was able to be in town most of this week, which was nice....so, next week will be the real test, when I actually have to do the Hermiston market alone :D No fear...I think I can handle it....(I'm not sure Pat is ready for me too...but, hey, what's he going to do about it :D).
Life is pretty easy around here these days...I only have three horses to feed and the barn cats....I sooooo LOVE summer chores! (Especially, the part of not having to pull on the cover-alls and muck boots!)
I hope all of you are on Summer vacation now too...and that you are enjoying some great down time...or at least some warm weather....Hopefully, I'll be finding more time to post our life adventures....!!! Sweet blessings!

Some Beach.....Some Where....
Oh, how I wish I was sitting on this beach in Maui again!
